Accessibility

We want My Community Map by MyKey to work for everyone. Our goal is to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We are not finished. This page says what we have done, how we checked it, and what we have not checked yet. My Community Map by MyKey is developed and owned by MyKey Consulting Services LLC in Bothell, Washington.

What we have built in

  • You can reach and use every button, link and box with a keyboard alone.
  • A "Skip to main content" link is the first stop on every screen.
  • When you open a tool, add, delete, save or confirm something, the keyboard focus moves to a sensible place, so you do not lose your spot.
  • Short messages such as "Plan saved." are sent to screen readers.
  • Each screen has one main heading, and each tool has its own page title.
  • Choices where you pick one, such as "What kind of place is it?", are marked as one choice out of a set, and you can move between them with the arrow keys.
  • Check boxes, such as the "Before I leave" list, are real check boxes for screen readers.
  • Emoji are shown as decoration and are not read aloud as part of a choice.
  • Text has strong contrast against its background, and the outlines of text boxes and choice buttons are easy to see.
  • A choice you have picked shows a check mark as well as a color.
  • Buttons and links are at least 44 pixels tall, so they are easier to tap.
  • The app fits a small phone screen, 320 pixels wide, with no sideways scrolling. It also works with text set to twice the usual size.
  • The opening animation stops within 5 seconds. If your device is set to Reduce Motion, nothing moves at all.
  • If a save or add button is not ready, pressing it tells you what is missing. Boxes you must fill in are marked "(needed)".
  • Links that open a new tab say so to screen readers.
  • There is no sound, no timer and no flashing.

How we tested

We tested on October 12, 2026. We ran automated axe checks on every screen. We walked through every tool using only a keyboard. We checked the app at a phone width of 320 pixels and with larger text. We checked it with Reduce Motion turned on. All of this was done in the Chromium browser.

What we have not tested yet

  • People who use VoiceOver or TalkBack every day have not tested the app yet.
  • Switch control.
  • Windows High Contrast.
  • The Safari and Firefox browsers.
  • Real phones and tablets.
  • The app inside each flipbook viewer.

Tell us about a barrier

If something in the app is hard for you to use, please email hello@mykeyplans.com. Tell us which page or tool you were using and what device you were on. We will reply as soon as we can.
